Working principle of low-power battery camera

Time:2024-03-25 Source:Kepoint Click:

Low-power battery-powered cameras typically come equipped with PIR detection, covering a detection range of approximately 8 meters. They remain in a dormant state until triggered by the detection of a person or animal. While in this dormant state, only the PIR sensor operates, consuming minimal power, approximately 1mW. When triggered, the camera awakens and starts recording, consuming around 1W of power. It's important to note that low-power cameras are not designed for 24/7 recording but rather for triggered recording.

These cameras commonly use either 2 or 4 18650 lithium batteries, with capacities ranging from 5200mAh to 10400mAh. The latest models may feature 1 or 2 21700 lithium batteries, with capacities of 4500mAh or 9000mAh, respectively.

To extend standby time, various methods are employed, including shortening the recording duration (10-30 seconds), adjusting trigger interval (1-5 minutes), and modifying trigger sensitivity. Additionally, some cameras come with solar panels for recharging, further extending their operating time.

Recordings can be stored either on TF cards (with a maximum capacity of 128GB) or in the cloud. For cloud storage options, some cameras utilize AI recognition in the cloud to identify vehicles, people, animals, packages, etc., and then categorize and push notifications accordingly.
